What makes a bug report useful

Include the page address, the exact letters or clues you entered, any filters you used, and what the page showed. Keep question marks and other pattern characters as you typed them. Say what you expected instead, and include your browser and its version. If the page displayed an error or refused the input, quote the message.

For an unexpected or missing word, search wordlist/enable1.txt, the site's full plain-text word list. If the word is there, note which result you expected and how it fits your letters, clues and filters. If a result includes a word that is absent from the file, include that word in your report.

Checking a missing word

The file is Word Sieve's ENABLE1-derived edition, with 39 entries excluded before publication: 172,781 entries in all. A word missing from this file is outside the solver's vocabulary, even if upstream ENABLE1 or another dictionary has it, and the search index covers only words of 2 to 15 letters. The methodology page explains the search methods and limits.

Suggestions are welcome too. Tell us about a constraint you cannot enter, a solver you would find useful, or a control that is difficult to use with your keyboard or device. If a message is unclear, quote it and say what you were trying to do.

What support cannot recover or decide

What you typed. The solver does not send us your letters. There is no account, query log or stored search history for support to retrieve. Copy any result you want to keep before leaving the page. When you email about a search, include the details you want us to investigate.

Whether a word is legal in your game. Word Sieve checks this site's general public-domain list. The proprietary lists used for competitive play are not used here. Check your game's dictionary or rules before relying on a match.

Corrections to the pages

Please report a count that looks wrong, an explanation that does not match the solver, or an unclear instruction. Include the page address and the specific wording or figure; a source or an example helps with checking it.
